Abianeh Photos

Grumpy Old Women
They get angry if you don't buy apples from them.

Have an apple!
We were finally force fed an apple by this friendly lady.

Old Door: Why 2 knockers you ask?
The left was for men, and right one for women.
They each would give a different sound to signal if a woman or man should answer.

Village of Abianeh
Check out the rooftop in the center...more apples?

Abianeh woman and Iranian tourists
They seemed more interested in us than in the village...

More on Abianeh...

I saw these two knocher doors in old houses in shiraz too. We were given the same explanation. It is so that if a man is coming in, women should cover.

Locks in Iran. This is in Farsi, Iranians, next to Egytians, were the first inventors of fancy, multi purpose locks.. and they have meaning other than their functions. Interesting....
